Breathing, as expected, was a constant battle. The weather was perfect, but the trail at this point turned vertical. Rest breaks became more frequent. At no point did we consider turning back, but we weren't happy with the prospect of the work ahead. Looking back was encouraging, as we could see nearly every step we'd already taken, knowing that "that part" was over.
